Dr. Michael People Empowerment Foundation. is a non-governmental organization incorporated in Nigeria. It was founded with the mission of empowering people; providing appropriate information, knowledge, and capacity, as well as facilitating appropriate action, towards living a healthy, happy, and quality life. Also, to bring hope and relief to people facing challenges by providing and facilitating solutions through collaboration, as well as supporting interventions and initiatives for relief, recovery and resilience.

OUR PROGRAMS

  • 1. HEALTHY, HAPPY REPRODUCTIVE AND FAMILY LIFE PROGRAM
    SICKLE CELL DISEASE AND ALLIED, PREVENTION AND CONTROL

    A one stop approach, where awareness, enlightenment, blood testing (Hb Genotype and Blood group/Rhesus factor) genetic counselling and follow up are done, covering both sickle cell disease and Rhesus incompatibly complex,

    STRATEGY
    1. Advocacy and discussion with stakeholders
    2. Provide awareness and enlightenment.
    3. Facilitate Hb genotype and Blood group test and participants will know their status as follows Hemoglobin Genotype: AA AS AC SS SC CC Blood Group/Rhesus: A+ B+ AB+ O+ A- B- AB- O- 4
    4. Provide 2 and 3 above at people convenient and preferred locations (outreach) and outside working hours and working days, to encourage participation.
    5. Use of community and field friendly technology
    6. Issue permanent Hb Genotype and Blood Group protected card
    7. Provide counselling including genetic counselling.
    8. Follow up to ensure appropriate decision and action (Google form, call/SMS center etc)
    9. Working in partnership with various partners and stakeholders.
    10. Cost of test and related cost per person, are covered by sponsorship.
